Celebrate Children Who Are Differently Abled
Everyday is International Day of Disabled Persons, although it is recognized in the United States on December 3, designed to raise awareness in regards to persons with disabilities in order to improve their lives and provide them with equal opportunity. We can honor this day by creating an environment that nurtures people who are differently-abled.
- Celebrating as equals
- making it ok for young children to ask questions, even, if it comes across as insensitive - perfect opportunity for a teaching moment
- Encourage kindness, empathy and compassion
Books and toys are great resources to validate the lessons of kindness, empathy and compassion.
